What to do if your teeth are sensitive to pain?
If teeth are sensitive to pain, a visit to a dentist is advisable. For example, if the gums are due to inflammation of the periodontium (periodontitis), the inflammation must be treated promptly. "In a second step, the dentist may seal the sensitive areas with a special varnish for a certain period of time, as well as the regular use of special toothpastes containing fluorides or certain desensitizing agents, as well as fluoride-containing gels and mouthwashes for home use "says Professor Joachim Klimek, Director of the Department of Dentistry and Preventive Dentistry at the University of Giessen.
What can you do yourself?
In any case, careful and gentle dental care is important. For this, a toothbrush with soft, rounded plastic bristles is recommended. When brushing, you should exercise the least possible pressure on your teeth and gums. It is best to attach the toothbrush to the gingival margin and gently move it back and forth. Then wipe out from the gums to the crowns. For gentle tooth cleaning, modern electric toothbrushes are also suitable.
