presbyopia

Presbyopia develops in almost all people over the age of 40 years. Even if you feel between the ages of 40 and 50, you can not prevent presbyopia with sports and a healthy diet. From a certain age, most people need glasses to read in a relaxed way or to work on the computer. However, nobody has to feel old just because he suddenly needs visual aids. The progressive spectacles make everything and is the ideal companion for the active generation 40plus.

With progressive lenses for presbyopia

  • From age 40, presbyopia sets in.
  • The ideal solution for the farsighted is a progressive lens, with which sharp vision in the near and far range is possible.
  • Modern progressive lenses are comfortable to wear, fit into fashionable frames and are not that expensive.
  • Sunglasses and sports glasses can also be equipped with progressive lenses.

The bad news: At some point, presbyopia hits everyone.
The good news: Nobody has to put up with it. Farsighted people can read and watch television with ease, watch TV, work or do sport with progressive lenses. Modern progressive spectacles are like a kind of wellness for the eyes: they improve the eyesight and at the same time set fashionable accents - and thus ensure twice as much that their wearers feel well and young. Even during sports activities or on vacation, progressive spectacles are ideal companions, as they also shine as sports and sunglasses.

The truth about progressive spectacles

Many old-sighted people still hesitate to go to the optometrist. This is mainly due to lack of information. The progressive lens is a tailor-made high-end product for the active lifestyle - so for work, sports and leisure.

Which prejudices exist and why they are completely unfounded, explains Kerstin Kruschinski of the Board of Trustees Good Vision:

Prejudice 1: I do not have to get used to progressive lenses because they are incompatible in the beginning.

Kruschinski: Spontaneous adjustment difficulties are rare. And even there are already the right glasses: They offer more sharpness in the transition zones of near and far vision. As a result, not only the three-dimensional, so the spatial vision is improved. The spontaneous compatibility of the glasses is significantly higher. This eliminates even for progressive newcomers usually the acclimation phase. Some manufacturers even give a compatibility guarantee on their glasses.

Prejudice 2: A varifocal lens limits the visual field too much. When cycling or jogging, I can not see it clearly.

Kruschinski: In modern progressive lenses, the focus area of the lens is extended downwards: The lateral edges of the field of view, where earlier slight distortions and blurring were the rule due to the design, are so narrow today that they no longer bother.

Prejudice 3: A progressive lens is far too expensive.

Kruschinski: There are a wide selection of progressive lenses. Each manufacturer offers a wide range of glasses for different needs and budgets. In the meantime, entry level glasses are also of a high quality. Presbyopes between the ages of 40 and 50 often need only a slight correction of their presbyopia.

Prejudice 4: There are too few modern versions for progressive lenses.

Kruschinski: In the past, progressive lenses still had to have a certain minimum size, so that smaller or very flat versions for progressive spectacle wearers were out of the question. Today, it is no longer a problem to fit progressive lenses into smaller, modern versions.
